Deborah never married and probably lived in Woolaston, Gloucestershire, all her life. She wrote her will in 1816, leaving everything to her niece, Ann Pitcher, a spinster daughter of her deceased sister, Margaret, and husband Benjamin Pitcher. Deborah died in 1837 at the age of 93. However, the will was not proved until either 1868 or 1878 [both dates are quoted in the documents], bypassing Ann, and in turn her sole executor, John Pitcher, and finally being proved by his sole executrix, Sarah Ann Pitcher...

"This is the last Will and Testament of me Deborah Worgan of the Parish of Woolastone in the County of Gloucester Spinster I give and bequeath unto my niece Anne Pitcher all my ready money and securities for money goods chattels and effects of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever situate To hold to her the said Ann Pitcher her executors administrators and assigns for ever And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said niece Executrix of this my will In …? Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of February one thousand eight hundred and sixteen

Hi

This Person sounds familiar

I have Ann Pitcher 1778-1843 in my tree as a sister to William Pitcher, who I believe married Sarah Bishop. Now I think William and Sarah had a child Ann who married William Thorn.
Ann and William had a son William who then marries Phoebe Shillam and the line then continues down to me.

Hi biddy,

I'm the person who's website has been quoted above (www.hibbitt.org.uk). I'm interested in knowing more about the Woolaston churchyard survey and where it might be available.

Kind regards,

Annie Barnes

As the villages of Woolaston and Hewelsfield virtully merge into each other, you will probably find the following items of interest, which are available in our downloads section under Stories and Articles.

Thanks very much, I will take a look at the documents. I did notice a few PITCHER individuals (another surname in my family) in the gravestone transcripts but I can't make the connection as yet.

My Worgans were also located in Alvington. Are there any memorial inscriptions available for this parish that you know of please?

Afraid as far as I know an Alvington churchyard survey hasn't been done yet.
