My ancestors (Thorne) were tanners working in Newnham from 1840 to 1890, possibly at the Underhill tannery. I would be interested to hear of any connections that others might have.

So whats wrong? Why the public message? I saw no box to tick saying that I had read, understood & followed any guidelines. How is my query a difficulty?
Why I directed you to the Posting Guidelines

My reason in directing you to the Posting Guidelines was to help you and not to antagonise you.
It is difficult for people to answer your question, if you have not clearly stated what information you are seeking.
If it is your Thorne family you would like more information about, then please tell us the names of the people in your Thorne family that you know of and what further details you would like to know.
By posting a good query you can reap great rewards. It is a good way to make new friends, find relatives, and produce valuable genealogical information.

I am just reading some old family documents and it seems that perhaps my great granfather owned the tannery his name was M Roberts and it would maybe seem that Underhill House is the site of the tannery.
