House built in Cinderford, 1930s with REECE - HARRIS link (General)
This is a long shot, but somebody might know or remember! I'm seeking information on a house - or a pair of semi-detached houses - built in, or very close to, Cinderford in the 1930s-40s.
My Great Aunt, Louisa REECE, acquired some land in the Cinderford area around 1920. She decided to build a house(s)and enlisted a man from West Byfleet to oversee the building project.
I believe the building would have started after 1933, and could have continued during the War. The houses were later sold, despite various family members hoping they would be able to live in them! I would love to know more about this story, which has been handed-down through the generations.
Background information (much of which I have found from this website in the Forest of Dean Parish Records:-
Louisa was born in Ledbury in 1876, and although she lived and worked in West London for most of her life, she retained her ties with the Hereford-Gloucestershire area. She used to bring her nieces and nephews on camping holidays to the Forest.
Louisa had an older sister, Annie, who married William HARRIS in 1893. William was a collier in the Forest of Dean. I know of two sons: William Hart Harris, born 1899, and Frederick Marling Harris, born 1902 in East Dean. Annie, William and family lived in Ruspidge. Frederick married Ellen Ward in 1934 and died in Gloucs. in 1979.
I'd be delighted to hear from anyone who recognises any of this information. Thank you.
