Edmund FLETCHER 1789 - 1868 Woolaston / Aylburton
Hello,
I am not exactly sure of the accuracy of my dates but your information seems to tie in very well. The birth date of his son Edmund ties to what I have.
The birthplace of his wife Sarah Marshall ties in.
According to my information he had 5 children namely:
Eliza 22 Jan 1826
Ann 2 Mar 1828
Edmund 22 Mar 1829
Caroline 6 May 1832
George 31 Jan 1836
It is always pleasing to think that you have connected another piece of the puzzle. I am grateful for your help.
Would that mean he is buried in Lydney?
Regards

Edmund and Emma Fletcher emigrated to NZ and settled in North Canterbury, where their descendants still reside (perhaps you are one of them!). Emma nee Hopkins was a sister to my great grandfather William Hopkins who emigrated to NZ in 1860 and settled at Saltwater Creek, North Canterbury.
I have information about the Hopkins family if you are connected to "our" Edmund Fletcher and would like the information. If so, please send me a private message with your email address and I will contact you.

I have found out heaps. and since I live only 15 minutes from Saltwater Creek / Leithfield where they all settled, is great.
Edmund and Margaret had 3000 ha in Waikari which is only 1 1/2 hours from Rangiora where is live. and farm is still in family but not as big. Farm was taken over by eldest son Edward.
Any information or emailing copies of photos would be most welcome and appreciated. If there is anything i can help you with this end let me know.
Kind Regards

Hi Kim
Your ancestor Edmund Fletcher, who married Emma Hopkins and migrated to NZ, is the son of the Edmund Fletcher whose burial was queried in the first message in this thread.
I have been emailed by the person who initiated this thread (obviously a relation of yours)and we have made the links between the Fletcher and Hopkins family via email. If you want to be put in contact with him, please send me a message off list, and I will ask him if I can pass on his email address to you.
Cheers
John
