My husband, a Herbert, is descended from a marriage of a Phelps and Herbert in Gloucestershire. The family then moved to Yorkshire and settled in several mining villages, the main ones being Normanton. It might be interesting to compare notes to see if you have the same ancestry. The Herbert/Phelps union was of Thomas Herbert born abt 1850 East Dean - died 1901 Normanton Yorkshire. His wife was Elizabeth Phelps born abt 1851 East Dean, no confirmed date of death as yet. Two of Elizabeths brothers also came with them and married and had issue in Yorkshire.

This all proves to me that we have to be open minded about how people's surnames have been spelt, misspelt and recorded (and perhaps sometimes transcribed). However one would not automatically think to look at League if the name were Teague and this is probably how some relatives get missed in a quest for the total picture!
