Hello to all,

I have been researching my wife's family and have come to a stop.
I have traced her family back to a William Wargent who married Martha Saunders on Oct. 21, 1751 in Ledbury, Hereforshire. His marriage parrish record does not state his parents names. I would like to find his Birth record which would possibly name his parents which would then hopefully let me go back further.

I have unconfirmed data from someone who thinks that William Wargent was the eldest son of John Wargent of Hereford and Ann Pool(e)of Ledbury. They married in 1727 and William was born in May of 1728. I have not been able to contact the person which gave me this information so I don't know what her source was.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid I can't help you but I wonder if you can help me. William Wargent is also an ancestor of mine and I wonder if you were able to confirm his parents. I'd be delighted to get any information you have about the family

If you Google

IGI Batch Numbers for Herefordshire (or for any appropriate County)

and click on L for Ledbury

you can then go through the records and put together family groups (i.e. Marriage & Baptisms)

for example

William WARGENT married in 1751

and

John WARGUNT/Ann POOL married 7 September 1727

I usually just click on submit query without entering a particular surname - and more often than not, call up the whole of the register for that particular period, because of variations in the spelling of the surname. Surnames at the beginning of the alphabet, don't take as long as 'W' - as I've found - my family go from A - W

On occasions, when clicking the 'submit query' button without entering a surname - it does take a few go's before the whole register appears.

Click on the name underlined - for the full information i.e. who they married/baptisms i.e.parents names etc.

A2A (Archives) - give details of Information on the SKIPP family of Ledbury - which are held at Herefordshire Record Office - and one documents mentions Henry WARGENT in 1703 and the next document a John POOLE
