WEBB and LANE Families (General)
In the 1871 census, Isaac and Sarah Ann Webb (Collins) only have one daughter living with them: Mary Ann Webb. At that time the parents had been married 21 months. (They were married 21 June 1869 and the census date was 2 April 1871). Mary Ann's age is listed as 2 years old so if the census taker got the age right (by no means guaranteed) then Mary Ann was indeed born out of wedlock. That would also make her 22 in 1891 but doesn't explain why all her names were changed: Mary Ann to Jane, and Webb to Collins. Seems peculiar to me. However I can find no records of any other Jane Collins in that generation in any branch of the James Collins family.
By the way, in my branch of the Collins family (Isaac Collins, Sarah Ann's brother) there is a Livinia with an "i", not an "e". She was my aunt and was known as "Vinnie."
