would the book you mention be this one ?, "Prosperity to This Parish" by Eric Warde & Redmarley Local History Group.

I ask as I've not yet read it but would welcome your opinions, please. Glos Libraries do stock it and I intend to read it one day. Please do post anything you find regarding old pubs in the village, thanks.

Another book about Redmarley I chanced across in the Reference section at Cinderford Library is "Redmarley War Memorial Eighty Four Years On, 1920-2004", Ref 940:465. Although more specialist it's still recommended reading, this moving & informative book describes in full the renovation & rededication of the village War Memorial. It includes detailed background text & occasionally photos about the men named on the Memorial; my interest in the village stems from an elderly aunt on my mother's side we used to visit in her lovely old cottage & smallholding. Although saddened I was also "pleased" to find a whole page devoted to my aunt's brother who died of wounds in October 1918!. I read this article before fully researching my aunt's line, so references to her two soldier brothers & sister, until then all unknown to me, was both interesting and helpful.
Unfortunately an indexing error means you will not find it in the Glos Library online catalogue by searching "Redmarley", so here's a direct link for anyone who may be interested.
