James Wintle, the son of James (a shoemaker in Mitcheldean) and Rhoda Wintle (nee Green), came to Australia with his older brother, John, via New Zealand. In Australia he married widow Margaret Hamilton Grigg (nee Forsyth) on 26 Jan 1889 and after the birth of their first child, Elsie Maude, returned to New Zealand with his family.

The large farmhouse just behind the signpost at the
bottom of the hill, is where my WICKENDEN family lived
at Nibley Mill (on the 1901 Census).
