Parentage of Maria Parry baptized June 1st 1823 at Blaisdon (Parish Records)
by goldenfox , Tuesday, November 11, 2014, 17:09 (3698 days ago)
It seems that her parents are James Parry 1790 and (Elizabeth possibly Betsey??? 1786), who married at Longhope in 1808, but maybe I am wrong so confirmation or correction would be most helpful. Maria was married to William Parry at Tibberton Glos. on Oct. 10th 1854, William was aged 31 and Maria 29.
Maria appears in the 1841 Census aged 15, the only other household member is a James Parry age 20 presumably a brother. She is not in the 1851 Census but is in the 1861 census now married.
Having established her parentage I want to research her grandparents etc. etc
many thanks in anticipation

James Parry and John/Solomon Coleman, Blaisdon auctions etc
by Jefff , West London, Middlesex, Friday, February 20, 2015, 23:24 (3597 days ago) @ Jefff
The BNA includes a few adverts/notices relating to a James Parry of Blaisdon,
eg;
Gloucestershire Chronicle
15 Nov 1834
"One Guinea Reward.
LOST, on Monday, Nov. 10th, in Blaisdon Wood, a Brown SETTER DOG, answers to the name of Ranger.— Any Person bringing the said Dog to Mr. James Parry, Spout Farm, Blaisdon, will receive the above reward."
Was James Parry a trusted employee of the Coleman family, hence the marriage to Betsey Coleman ?, as follows;
eg advert Gloucester Journal, 5 Jan 1839, advertises auction at the Red Lion, Huntley, of 50 Superior Oak trees and 800 prime Larch poles.....James Parry, residing at Little London will show the Lots, further particulars .....Mr John Coleman of Longhope.
Another very similar advert includes;
Gloucester Journal 26 February 1842 for auction at Lower George Inn, Gloucester, re trees & coppice timber at Blaisdon, ..... James Parry, Little London, will show the Lots, other info from John Coleman Longhope or Solomon Coleman Solicitor Longhope.
and
Gloucester Journal 6 March 1815; timber auction at Red Hart, Blasidon, James Parry(the Woodward) will shew the wood....John Coleman Longhope.
also
"8 December 1831 - Cheltenham Chronicle, Marriages;
On Tuesday, at Blaisdon, in this county, by the Rev. Mr Black, Mr J. Drinkwater, of the Pool House, Huntley, to Caroline, eldest daughter of Mr James Parry, of the former place."
--------
Not sure if this is relevant, but the Gloucestershire Echo of 29 March 1945 has a detailed article and photo;
"LOCAL CENTENARIAN MRS GEORGE WYNN.
CHELTENHAM today lost another of its centenarians by the death of Mrs. George Wynn, of Blaisdon, Alstone Croft. She died this morning in her 101 st year—she would have been 101 on July 25 next. Born in Herefordshire, came to Cheltenham in early 20s.....her mother Mrs James Parry of Tewkesbury, lived to within months of her century, dying in 1915".
I think the Blaisdon reference is a house name, but this, plus her mother's name...
???
The previous year the same paper 25 July 1944 carries an article about her receiving her 100th birthday Telegram, stating she's Cheltenham's oldest resident, mentions her son & daughter Mr Ernest H Wynn and Miss Laura Wynn, plus more family, also her birthplace at Knottwood Hill, Blaisdon.
QED ??
------------
Also find this mentions of Spout Farm Blaisdon within local Trade Directories, eg
Slater's Directory of Newnham 1868, With the Parishes and Villages of Awre, Blakeney, Cinderford, Blaisdon, Flaxley, Little Dean, and the South End Hamlets of East Dean.
Farmer, PARRY, John, Spout Blaisdon.

Hi annrh32, It seems we have a mutual interest in Maria Parry who married William Parry on 10th October 1854 at Tibberton Glos, you are probably aware of that, however William was a brother to Edmund Parry my Great grandfather.
I am willing to share information which maybe beneficial to you, and you may be able to help me, if that is the case I suggest this is not done in the public domain

Hi again Ann,
I see you've been busy on the forum lately so I thought I'd try again to contact you - normally I'd have emailed you directly off-forum, however there doesn't seem to be an envelope icon being displayed against your username, I know not why. I do hope this doesn't mean you've been having a difficult year too, if so I hope it's in the past and it's good to see you back on forum, just as it's also nice for me to be back after a long enforced break.
If you recall we briefly chatted by email re James Parry of Blaisdon, and I promised to send you some newspaper cutting downloads I'd found which (briefly) mention him. I realise it took me a few weeks, sorry, but I did send them to your email address back in April, and then again in August. I don't think you received them as you didn't reply which seemed unlike you, I guess you have changed your email address?, so if you could please email me via the blue envelope icon and I will try to resend them to you.
Apologies for my delay in contacting you,
Atb Jeff.
PS I hope you made some headway with your query's re composer Hubert Parry ?

Getting back to business and looking back through my files I have

Good evening Goldenfox, ("shades" of "Eric the Red" perhaps ?),
Please accept my apologies Eric for not replying to your post sooner. Yes I do indeed recall discussing the Parrys with you on and off the forum earlier this year, thanks. I also exchanged a few emails with Ann as it seems you did too, but then we lost contact, which worried me a little. I was therefore pleased to see her recent post above, so I thought I'd try to make contact again, altho it seems without success, I do hope she's well.
Re the Parrys of Blaisdon or, indeed, anywhere else, I'm afraid I don't have any links at all with the Parry family that I'm aware of. My forum posts & subsequent emails were just a case of my trying to help fellow forum members such as you & Ann, particularly regarding the old newspaper articles as I had a short BNA subscription to use at that time. Hence I'm afraid I don't have any more Parry information that I can help you with, and thanks for your kind offer but your info would be wasted on me, sorry. Perhaps if it's not too personal you might consider sharing it with any other Parry researchers by posting it to the forum ?.
I wish you well in your researches now you're back in the fold, and look forward to chatting again.
All the very best to you & yours, Jeff Jones "nee" Wright.

Hi Jeff, thanks for your reply ref Samuel Parry, yes I did look at the Inquests etc. and also tried a search on FOD coal mining pits, and accidents but got nowhere fast.
Ref: a reply to, I assume, your post dated Dec 2nd 2015 which was a reply to a post from me earlier in the year, I have read and re-read your post and wonder what the specific point you raised was which necessitated an answer.
Please reply at your earliest as I would be happy to answer the point raised

Good evening Eric,
please accept my apologies, my mind is in a mess these days !. I'm so sorry for mailing you, when I sure your post today I immediately and mistakenly thought you were the lady (Anne?) in this thread who I was to contact last year, re our emails and some old newspaper articles I hope I've sent her.
Apologies for confusing you, and thanks so much for your quick reply.
If I can I'll try and search for Samuel later, altho not sure where to look at this moment. I suspect you've searched this database, I cannot see him on here, but I know from previous experience this list doesn't include everyone.
http://www.cmhrc.co.uk/site/disasters/index.html
I presume you don't have his Death certificate ? (I've never bought one for any of the many people I've researched in my various trees, not sure why not, so I'm not for a moment suggesting you should have Samuel's, but it may help).

PS I assume you've seen this Parry website in your travels, altho it doesn't seem to help in this instance.
