A new BBC Wales living history series, Coal House,
will transport three families back to the south Wales coalfield of the 1920s....

My Forest family, like many, moved to the mining villages of the Rhondda in the early 1900's, so I'll look forward to seeing this tonight. Have we already missed a couple?

Yes a few episodes have been aired on BBC1W - which UK satellite viewers may be able to pick up - international members - sorry you can access highlights on the Web...

I managed to download most of the episodes from the BBC site. I really, really enjoyed it. Have to admit, although I knew it was hard, I didn't realise just how hard it must have been for my grandfather and those before him working in the mines, never sure of regular work etc..

BBC Wales' Coal House, produced by Indus Films, which transported three Welsh families back to taste life in the mining valleys of south Wales in 1927, won the Gwyn Alf Williams Award for contributing the most to the understanding and appreciation of the history of Wales.

The new series of Coal House returns soon to BBC One Wales ( October 13 2008) -
and this time it's war.
This October three families will be sent back to live life as
it was in a mining community during 1944.
