Tony,

My GGG Grandmother was Sarah Jenkins, who married freeminer William Nash and lived in the Sling area until after William died in 1850. I am descended from their son Jeremiah Nash (1844-1904, see http://members.aol.com/_ht_a/lynnash911/jeremiahnashcharlottemiles.html ). William and his brother Richard briefly held the gale of Old Sling Pit Iron Mine.

I have not yet had the opportunity to trace the Jenkins family, but I believe that the following is Sarah's baptism record:

record_id 8424
Entry Number 268
Year 1812
Month Jun
Day 28
Parents Surname JENKINS
Child Forename(s) Sarah
Father's Forename(s) W[illia]m
Mother's Forename(s) Mary
Mother's Surname
Place of Residence Coleford
Occupation
Officiating Minister
Event type Baptism
Memoranda Gd Daughter
Notes

Page No 37
Parish Coleford

I would love to know more about the ancestry of my GGG grandmother. As you trace your Jenkins family, Tony, perhaps you can let me know how your line links to mine. For example, I have noticed that a Henry Jenkins and Mary Jenkins (brother and mother?) witnessed Sarah's and William's marriage certificate on May 8, 1830 at Hewelsfield; Sarah and William later witnessed the marriage certificate of Henry Jenkins and Mary Ann Meredy on June 20, 1834. An Elizabeth Jenkins (Sarah's sister or cousin?) married William Nash's nephew Ruben (or Reuben) Nash on March 15, 1845.

Best wishes,

Matt Nash
