Francis READ b.1730 Ruardean (General)

by Danny @, Wednesday, February 20, 2008, 04:08 (6191 days ago)

I would appreciate some help on this one.

Francis Read b 25 Oct 1730 married Jane Stephens of the Hundreds of St Briavels on 26 Aug 1760 at Ruardean. Their children were born from 1763 to 1781.

A 'possible' Jane Stephens / Stevens was born in Ruardean on 23 Dec 1722, but she seems a bit old to be having children in 1781?

Also, there is a Jane Read buried on Ruardean Hill in 1810 aged 82, but I'm not sure if she was the widow of Francis.

Has anyone managed to find the baptism of the Jane Stephens / Stevens who married Francis Read in 1760?

thanks.....Danny

not wishing to teach folk how to suck eggs... however don't assume she was baptised as a baby she may have been a teenager..

Thank you all very much for your responses and sound advice. Unfortunately in this case there isn't any evidence to support a late or group baptism as jane Stephens 1746 had brothers baptised in 1745 and 1750 at St Briavels, plus possibly two more brothers at llandogo in 1754 and 1756.
I'm not discounting that all of them may have been baptised late ... just have to keep searching

thanks again......Danny

This one is on my family tree and I have found Jane daughter of William & Sarah Stephens of Newland baptised 9 April 1738 at Lea in Herefordshire. I think this is a good candidate.
