Hi, thanks for replying.
I am, along with another Sollars researcher, trying to compile a Sollars tree that only has people in it that are sourced from parish records or certicates. We have hit a wall with John (abt 1835)who is, I think, father to George & his younger brother John (1874 & my great grandfather) We know on John Sollars & Amelia Worgans wedding certificate (8/11/1855)that John's father is given as Joseph & not Samuel as we first supposed. From research we think therefore that John(1835) must be the son of Joseph & Charlotte Sollars (ne Baylis). The problem is that we can't find a baptism for John around 1835.
I have searched the baptism cd for Gloucestershire 1813-1837 & there is no John as son to Joseph & Charlotte Sollars. However there is a transcribed entry for a John Baylis in 1835 with parents Joseph & Charlotte Baylis & my thought is that just perhaps the surname was miss keyed & the mothers maiden name was entered insteade of her married name during the transcribing.
I have no other ideas.
On the 1841 John Sollars appears with his parents Joseph & Charlotte Sollars. The only way I can prove the 1835 entry theory is by looking at the original parish records which are presumably held at the record office. Unless,by luck, someone out there has actually seen the original entry.
I wouldn't mind sometime cross checking the info I have on George with you if you dont mind
Thanks again for replying,
Marion
