BURGUM/MORRIS (reply)

How fascinating to have branches in common. As you can see from my initial outline, my line moved from the FOD via Ebbw Vale to Cardiff....and from there back to England. As you may guess, I come down through the male/paternal line and a plethora of William Ps. Perhaps I might contact you again if and when I build up the FOD/industrial dimension. My grandfather was the last of the cooperas makers working at MelinGriffith and falling foul of the 1920's Slump. I am beginning to realise how rough and ready the 'official' census material is with regards to dob, precise wording of addresses etc. Doubtless I will have to do some local fieldwork.

Yours

Tony P

PARTRIDGE family of Lydney and Lydbrook 1800s

I am researching the Partridge family of Lydney/Lydbrook and would welcome any data to add to the following and their offspring

William Partridge (Forge Master)born 1809 married with Hannah ? born 1814

William Partridge (Copperas Maker)born 1843 married Sarah ? born 1861

William Partridge (Copperas Maker) born 1883 married Margasret Craig (of Ebbw Vale)

Census records are not useful until 1911 by which time the two last Williams were living in Cardiff.

Many thanks
