Ive had a look and cannot find any source referenced by online trees etc for this
My suspicion is that this is an assumption using a Will and christening records for his children to point back to an approx birth of 1512.

( Parish records begin 1538 for Ruardean a 1538 Act of Parliament required ministers in the Church of England to record baptisms, marriages, and burials. )
