Tabor - biblical ? (reply)

Now the other idea besides drums that comes to mind would have to be Mount Tabor with its biblical / pilgrimage connections.

You can "see" the use in Lydbrook at the Primitive Methodist Chapel 'Mount Tabor' was built at the Reddings in 1862.

So how close to the Methodist chapel are you, on High St Aylburton ?
Did a minister live there at one time ?

Was it Tabor Mount rather than Tabor House ?

Tabor - Morris dancing ? (reply)

Good Afternoon

Its a question that has plaqued the family as Tabor House is listed as the address on the 1891 census of Aylburton.

Maybe the connection lies with Morris Dancing

You've almost lost me here !

Is the connection with the oldest instruments used for the Morris being the "pipe and tabor", these being a three hole pipe played with the left hand and a small drum ?

If so I know the Forest of Dean Morris dancers have been known to meet up at the Cross , Ayleburton.
