There are several useful maps to be seen.

Gloucester Count Records have:-

Proposed Railway 1840 Q/RUm 169/1, unbound copy 1st March 1838 Q/RUm 160 and 164 (1839). The advantage of these is that houseowners are shown.

Another one is Sopwith Map of 1835 to show iron mines in Forest. I think the ref. is Q/RUm 173/1 and 2.

Roger

A couple of others I have thought of. Encroachments. Key Book Q/RG f 1/2., 1/5 for Parkend and Ellwood, 1/6 for Blakeney and Soudley. These date from 1830's ? and arose because people erected dwellings without planning authority. All dwellings have names of occupiers.

There are large scale OS maps of FoD 1880 and 1901. The latter were used for 'Duties on Land Values per Part 1 of the Finance Act 1910' Beauty is all properties and land are marked with numbers. A separate list details owners and occupiers. These are not in Gloucester County Records, but in another Public Building in Gloucester. I'm afraid I can't remember where it is.

Regards,

Roger
