JORDAN (General)
Thank you all for the help with my original query. It has been wonderful to get such a response.
Second brainteaser!! I believe that George's parents were a Thomas and Elizabeth Jordan, married 1810 St Briavels, and I have a Will of Thomas Jordan (Blacksmith) died Aug. 1855.of Camomile Green, West Dean.
He names his wife Elizabeth and Sons, George, Edward, John(who got the Smith shop)William and Joseph. (there must have been some girls surely?) 1851 Census shows them with Joseph at home, but how can I confirm the link that my George is their first son? My George married 1836 to Sarah Johnson in Ruardean. Pre-registration!!! Were parents named then?
Is there anyone who could look at the Parish Registration entry to see if parents are named for me please? Or can anyone come up with another method of proof? Does his baptism say who he is the son of. On the Censu he says he was born at Ruardean c. 1812. Who has the FULL transcription of these baptisms now please? Kindest regards to you all.

This may be the bit that disproves the link from George, in Ruspidge/Cinderford to the Lydbrook Blacksmith family.
Here is the Family of the Will in 1841 Lydbrook ( adult ages were rounded to nearest 5) so George is born approx 1833

Hi SLOWHANDS ,
I just found this posting about the Jordon family .....I've decided to leave my 'Beach' side of the family for a while (they're driving me batty !!) and started looking into the other branches of my 'Forest' family, and there are Phillip JORDON AND Sylvia Bassnet, my 4xgreatgrandparents!
Thanks for the info .... there semms to be an awful lot of River Jordon's !Does anyone have any information on the Bassnet Family ? If so ANY snippett of information would be much appreciated
Thanks a lot rheola
BASSNET - English Bicknor
There are about 20 BASSNET / BASNET records ( so far) in the Transcriptions - I guess we can piece together some relationships as they all appear in Eng. Bicknor at about the same time :-)

Mary was wife of Thomas (son of Thomas and Elizabeth) born c1813 and buried at Drybrook Parish Church on 6 March 1841 aged 27 years.
I do not believe that George buried 1871 aged 60 is son of this couple. But this George may well be:

Thomas JORDAN 1785 - 1855
I have been trying to follow this thread through because I believe Thomas Jordan was my Great Great Great Grandfather. If I have got this correct, his son George (born 1816) married Sarah Johnson (born 1812). Their son William (born 1849) married Mary A. Davis (born 1855 at Mitcheldean). I'd like to know her parents and trace back from there. Any help would be gratefully received!
Rob
JORDAN
I have just come across this message and believe Thomas Jordan and John Jordan are my ancestors and would be interested in where I can get a copy of the will or any other info on the family. My G Grandfather Nehemiah Jordan was John's son and migrated to Bendigo Australia in 1850's
