Nash/Wintle/Rees & Kirby in Coleford (General)

by Irish daisy @, N.Ireland, Thursday, May 18, 2006, 06:22 (6756 days ago)

Richard NASH of west Dean 1781 m 11 Dec 1806 Newlands Elizabeth WINTLE of Coleford 1786.

Richard is listed on the baptisims of some his children as a Baker in Coleford from 1814 to 1828. The next baptisim in 1830 and the last shows his occupation as an Iron Miner . This is also recorded in the 1841 & 1851 census.

The children were Hariett 1812 and the lady I am most interested in , Ann 1813 , Richard 1814, John 1816, Amelia ( mispelt as Emila)1818, Samuel 1819, Maria ( Mary) 1822, Joseph 1826, Benjamin 1828, Sarah Ann 1830,

Harriet is recorded as marrying a Gentleman Rees Ashwell Morgan REES 7th Oct 1835 in Britol. She is recorded carrying the middle name of Wintle. A Full 9 months later harriet gives birth to a daughter Ellen REES and she is the only child of the couple that is born in Coleford. This is because Rees although recorded as a gentleman at marriage and on the bapt of daughter Ellen all other documentation records Land Surveyor ( 1841 census, dau's marriage ) thus he and the family move about alot.

The children besdies Ellen were as follow Fanny 1838 ... unsure place of birth , Elizabeth 1841 Crickhowell Brecon, Frank Ashwell 1844 Brecknock, William Henry 1847 Worcester & Charles 1850 Wolverhampton.

Harriet is widowed by 1851 and she is recorded on the 1851 census as School Mistress. She and her children are living in Silver Street, Newnham.

After the 1851 census I lose the family............except the eldest daughter Ellen REES ( gg Gran) she marries an Irish Gardener Micheal KIRBY of Pallas Green Limerick. This couple have the following other children Thomas 1863 Newport Monmouth, Mary Ann 1864 Mitcheldean ( married into a very wealthy and famous family called HOSTE - they were from Norfolk ) , Emily Maria 1870 Cheltenham, Alice rees 1873 Northleach, Charles Edward 1877 Charlton Kings ( dies in Bethnal green London in 1948) & Evelyn May 1878 charlton Kings.

Ellen's family settle mostly in Cheltenham after 1901 . She dies there in 1921.

Anyone with a connection to the families pls pls do get in touch. OR if you have any info regarding the families etc .

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
