Any Sandford's out there

by Ryan, Monday, March 03, 2008, 17:14 (6100 days ago) @ slowhands

Hi there all,
I am new and am researching my family from here in newcastle australia. I have found my family have had a long history in the Lydney/momouthshire areas and wondering if anyone from here may be a relative or have information on the Sandfords from this area. I had a great grandfather named Percival and his father was William. I have more details at home and will post them in due course.
Cheers

Ivy Ellis - Frederick Ellis

Hi Jean,
Have seen your posts and your mention of Ivy Ellis - Ivy was my husband's grandmother and I would be grateful for any more information as from your remarks you seem to have known her? I too have traced the family back through the Ellis and Saunders lines.
Kind regards,
Christine

Hi Christine,

Martin, Not Jean, Ivy was my Great Grandmother. I have put Saunders on the backburner for now and turned to Ellis, Sandford, James, Jones.

All the best.

I know this is going back a bit, but if we're talking about the same Ivy Ellis
(married Thomas Saunders 1927) she was my maternal grandmother. Is there any more information I can help you with?

Hi Linda,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, this is the same Thomas Saunders/Ivy Ellis. Ivy was my husband's grandmother too. I could do with any information you have, as I am compiling his family tree for him, since he has lost contact with all his relatives. He is the son of Kenneth Saunders, Thomas and Ivy's son.

SANDFORD Lydney - WATKINS South Wales

by Clairef, Tuesday, March 04, 2008, 07:43 (6100 days ago) @ slowhands

I have been doing research on my uncle's family tree - the Gertrude Watkins referred to in Slowhands excellent reply is his mother. He is doubly related to the Sandfords as his paternal and maternal grandmothers were sisters. To find out more if you have access to Ancestry I have put the information on under "James Family"

Thanks everyone, that was very interesting. The James Sandford who died at 41 I think is the same one who drowned in Lydney canal and is a direct descendent. I am in a hurry today, just wanted to say thanks.
