Milson HATTON 1847 Yorkley
Good grief Slowhands; what kept you?!!! How's that for a swift reply?
The interpretation now becomes clear - Oakham = Holcombe : Amey = Annie. The connection is now made. Well done.

Good grief Slowhands; what kept you?!!!
now why did I adopt the Slow adjective ???
Milson Hatton b1847 (General)
I am researching my family tree and have become side tracked to the youngest son of Thomas Hatton c1807 & Ann Biddington c1808. Milson Hatton, born in Yorkley, appears in the 1881 census married to 'Amey Hatton', both aged 33. Milson was a collier and Amey is shown as having been born in Oakley, Somerset. Neither appear in the 1891 census but intriguingly a Milson Hatton, apparently living in Canada with the same background credentials, appears in a search on Ancestry.com but married to Ann Elizabeth Cary. They married in 1876 but where the marriage took place is not given. Could they be the one and the same and if so what happened to 'Amey'? Was her name mis-spelled? Looking at the 1881 census page I cannot see that the name Amey could be mistaken for Annie unless, bearing in mind literary standards were poor, the census in those days were completed phonetically through a third party.
If anyone can point me in the direction of obtaining marriage details or any details post 1881 of Milson I will be very grateful.

Milson Hatton b1847
There is an FTDNA web-site covering the Hatton Family (http://www.familytreedna.com). My Y-DNA matches 35 out of the 37 alleles of the Hatton Family. This means I share a common recent paternal ancestor with the Hatton Family (along with the Lewis and Pask Families). I am unable at the moment to reconcile my documented ancestry with these DNA findings. I look forward to seeing the ancestry of the Hatton Family of the Forest of Dean back to before the year 1640 so that this reconcilliation can occur. My ancestry is on this site (http://www.forest-of-dean.net / downloads / Miscellaneous / Thomas_Morgan_born_circa_1642_Pedigree.pdf).

Springhill Nova Scotia and Milson Hatton of Yorkley
Milson Hatton emigrated to Springhill Nova Scotia from Yorkley in 1887, to work in the coal mines there. I have just come back from Canada and visited Springhill. We went to his last known address in Wolsely Street. There are still Hattons living in that street! We met the great, great grandaughter of Milson. She was the image of my late mother in law, his great, great niece. If anyone would like info regarding Milson's journey to Canada and his time in Springhill I am happy to help.
Kind Regards to all Hatton researchers!
