TRIGG - Wigpool, Mitcheldean (General)
I am trying to find the birth of Jonathan Marfell Trigg B: 1858, not sure if Wigpool is an area of Mitcheldean. Fathers name Absolem Trigg mothers name not known.
He married Annie Maria Hamblin in 1887.
Can anyone help with where I could obtain the DOB/Bapt for Jonathan. Two of his children may also have been born in the same area.
Grantley B: 1889 and Benjamin B:1892.

Looks like Jonathan T is the son of Sophia Marfell ( or at least thats the way the census looks :-))

Crown Inn, is that still around today? It doesn't say whether Jonathan was the landlord - or whether they just lived at the Inn.

refers to the Crown Inn at Puddlebrook / Hawthorns, which could well be the one refered to as being in Hope Mansell - the boundaries in this area can get very confusing !

I didn't know about Gilbert, as he doesn't show up on the 1891 or 1901 census I take it he must have passed away.
I'm a bit confussed by the Lugg family - are they Annie Trigg and two of the Children?
I thought perhaps they had an alias - skeletons and all that!!!

Gilbert is on the 1891 ! with mother and Grantley but transcribed as Lugg !!!

Although my main interest is the Marfell Family, I do of course follow the children which result from marriages. I can tell you that Jonathon Marfell Trigg was born 2.10.1855. I have a copy of the birth certificate. His father Absalom is to be found in the other recent Trigg string on the notice board. His mother Sarah Marfell born 16.9.1831 Hope Mansell, baptised 18.10.1831 Ruardean. Sarah's parents being Jonathon Marfell 1795/9.3.1869 & Phoebe Meek 1795/1862. Jonathon Marfell Trigg had 7 siblings. This excellent site has now yet again added to my knowledge as I had no detail of his marriage or children. Thank you.

Have you checked out the latest Parish records - Cinderford Burials - shows John Marfell Trigg buried 8.3.1921 age 63. He was actually born 2.10.1855, so the age at death is slightly out, but that is often the case, as they rely upon information submitted by whoever registers the death.
