Roll of Honour project (General)

As mentioned in another posting, the Forest of Dean Local History Society has just launched a CD as part of a project, funded by a Local Heritage Initiative grant, to commemorate miners involved in fatal accidents in Forest of Dean mines and quarries (see our website www.forestofdeanhistory.org.uk).

A final part of the project is to produce leather-bound books containing all the names of victims, which will be placed in local libraries. As the Society is anxious to have as few omissions as possible, we wondered if anyone who knows one of their relatives died in such an accident could make contact, so that the name can be checked aginst existing records. This way, if the names are not there, they could be included in the books, even if it is too late for the CD.
