Hi - The Forest of Dean was largely used as a storage area for munitions and supplies, across the road from where I am sitting in Broadwell are the foundations of the huts that housed the American soldiers in the lead up to
D- Day. The Naas Camp is next to the old Lydney harbour and had a railway link, so I would imagine for much of their time the soldiers were involved in the handling of cargo and munitions that were hidden under the canopy of the trees throughout the forest, it was a massive operation. Somebody will have all the information you would like, see if you can find a link to the Forest and Wye Valley Review, they would probably run a story to ask your question for you. Bye Fred
