My family WICKENDEN are on the 1901 Census Page 11 of 29 at Nibley Mill, Blakeney

William WICKENDEN aged 57 my great grandfather - a Farmer born Rendcombe with his Wife Elizabeth, daughter Daisy, Son Harry and Grandson Reginald.

Next Door at Nibley is Evan DAVIES and he is married to William's daughter Martha.

Next door to that is Rose Cottage......

I have just visited Nibley, and Nibley Mill still exists and I do have some old photographs.

The WICKENDEN family were in the Blakeney/Awre/Etloe area from around 1775 -

In 1891 William WICKENDEN was running the Temperance Hotel at the top of the Hill in Blakeney - which is at present up for sale.

In 1881, William and his family were at Mill End, Blakeney where he was a Butcher and Dealer.

In 1871 he was in Blakeney Road, and a Butcher.

My other WICKENDEN relatives were in Etloe 1841/1851/1861

The Rev W S WICKENDEN on the 1861 census for Etloe (occupation, Clergyman of the Church of England and without care of souls) - was sponsored in his youth by Dr Jenner and went to Cambridge where he got a BA - and wrote many books, and was nicknamed 'Bard of the Forest'

Most of them are buried in the Blakeney Churchyard, where I saw the name Virgo quite a lot...
