I used to stay near Foxes Bridge at my great grandfather's house in the late 1940s. After researching my family tree I have found that my 4th Great Grandfather was the Moses Roberts who owned a colliery in Drybrook in 1841. There was an earlier thread on this forum about his colliery - http://forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?mode=thread&id=32513 - asking about the location of Prosper Level mentioned in his will.

I have located Harryhill Coliery on an 1888 OS map and discovered that this is indeed Prosper Gail according to the following link:

There is also some interesting information in this link:

There were quite a number of Roberts in the area and it took some time to work out the interconnections. Moses's granddaughter Elizabeth married another member of the family John Roberts and then emigrated to Cumbria where their daughter Edith, my great grandmother, married Robert Tully, my great grandfather.

This is my first posting so I hope it is in the right place!

Moses was indeed married to Mary Hayward (1771-1841). He did have a daughter Elizabeth who married Benjamin Trigg with whom she had several children. After Benjamin's death in 1836 she married John Glover. The Elizabeth I was referring to, my second great grandmother, was the daughter of Moses' son Moses who also died in 1841, the same year as his parents.
