Yorkley Slade -dwelling history (General)

Hi

I am trying to find out the date/ history of my grandparents house when might have been built etc. It is on the edge of the Forest and has since been called Owl Cottage, Woodland Place, Yorkley. ( It is in Yorkley Slade ) They lived there from approx 1913-1950. He worked at the Fancy Pit and I wondered if it might have been connected to his work. It was in a cluster of three houses, two back to back, with a large garden.
Any suggestions welcomed.

Hopefully

Couldn't search for your Ancestors 1911 census - as no names given.

The Enumerators Summary Books - 1911 Wales Census for Yorkley Slade Nr Lydney - do not give many individual house names - nor does

Lloyd George Survey of Land Values - Gloucester

http://www.glos1909survey.org.uk

However the above website - if you search for Yorkley Slade gives details of Owners and occupants of the houses in Yorkley Slade - with size of plots, rates etc.

Go to the heading..... Search - then

Search by address: Yorkley Slade : Enter house, road (box) - then click : Search

then click on each 'red Yorkley Slade heading' to pull up the full information

Hi
Many thanks for that information a great resource. Unfortunately the maps section is still underdeveloped and Yorkley has still to be added. I need that to recognise the house as when my grandparents lived as there they had no address as far as I know. They did not move there until after the 1911 census so will have to wait until 1921 census!. I will keep on checking the site you gave and maybe the 1911 census as something may jump out.

I appreciate your assistance .

Gill
