David Wheeler / Weeler - Bridstow (General)

Good morning,
I am researching the Wheeler family who lived in and around the forest area.
I am struggling with the parents of David Wheeler born abt 1822.
The earliest record I have is for a marriage between David and Elizabeth Clark in 1840 at Walford which lists his father as Thomas.

Record_ID: 57052
Entry_Number: 45
Year: 1840
Month: Jul
Day: 19
Grooms_Surname: WEELER
Grooms_Forenames: David
Grooms_Age: 18
Groom_Condition: Bachelor
Grooms_Occupation: Servant
Grooms_Residence: Walford
Grooms_Fathers_Surname: Weeler
Grooms_Fathers_Forenames: Thomas
Grooms_Fathers_Occupation: Labourer

There is also a later marriage record in 1870 at Ross that also names his father as Thomas so I dont think this is an error on the records.

All the census records record his birth place as Bridstow, but the only reference I can find to a David from Bridstow lists his parents as Samuel & Mary!

Any help will be much appreciated.

Tim

Does the marriage certificate of David give his father's occupation?

Looking for clues e.g. family names etc.

David & Elizabeth WHEELER - married in Walford, named their children

Mary Ann 1841, Henry 1843, Emily Sophia 1846, Jane Maria 1850, Sarah 1852, and Louisa 1855.

There is a marriage at Ross on Wye - 26 Dcember 1820 of a Thomas WHEELER Bachelor of this Parish and Maria BAGHEN - Widow of this Parish : witnesses: Elizabeth & Charles TOWNSEND

Using the advance search for children of Thomas & Maria WHEELER -

Thomas' occupation is a Blacksmith and the children are christened in different places

1821 - Mary Ann : parents Thomas & Maria - residence, Ross - Parish Chapel: Ruardean Congregational

so assume non-conformists at that time.....

next child is another

1823 - Maryanne - residence: By the Warrifield, Blacksmith - Parish Chapel, Walford
1824 - Thomas - residence: By the Warrifield, Blacksmith - Walford
1826 - Frederick - residence: Lidbrook, occupation: Smith - Parish Chapel, Drybrook ***
1830 - Harriet - residence: Lidbrook, occupation, Blacksmith - Parish Chapel, Walford
1832 - Edwin - residence: Lidbrook, occupation, Blacksmith - Walford
1836 - Isabella - residence: Lybrook, occupation, Blacksmith - Parish Chapel, Ruardean

*** need to check whether these children married : for example: Frederick Wheeler (father Thomas, Blacksmith) married in Newland, 24 April 1848 : Isabella married in Ross on Wye 1857

Thank you for your quick reply.

The first marriage certificate lists fathers ocupation as a labourer, the second one in 1870 says butcher. The only `butcher` i can find on the 1871 census is below.
This gives a birthdate of 1805 for Thomas and 1801 for Ann, while it is perfectly true that both are of child producing age in 1822/23, is it very likely?? Incidently, the Thomas below is Baptised in 1805 and marries Ann in 1825.

Looking to see on FoD record if David WHEELER was a witness to a wedding....
