Joseph was widowed in 1851 so Ann would have died sometime between 1841 and 1851. A search of the Parish Records gives us this entry:
Year: 1842
Month: Jan
Day: 27
Surname: HILL
Forenames: Anne
Residence: The Pitt House Parish of Dymock
Age_at_death: 41

The Census tells us that the first child was born c1834 so the marriage is most likely to have taken place shortly before. Again a search of the records produces this entry:
Year: 1833

This tells us that the marriage was by Licence so we search the Marriage Allegations and Bonds and this tells us that Joseph was a Farmer.
I have not been able to find Joseph Hill in the Census after 1871 so assume that he died shortly afterwards. This is a possible:
Deaths Jun 1874
HILL Joseph 67 Newent 6a 167
Burial:
Year: 1874
Month: Apr
Day: 23
Surname: HILL
Forenames: Joseph

This suggest that he was laid to rest with his wife but a search of the MI's on this site is negative. However a search of the Wills Index confirms his death in 1874:

The Census tells us that Joseph was born in Bromsberrow c1807. This could be his Baptism:

And Ann was born c1801 so this could be her baptism:

Marriage and Death

Hi Wazza & Shepway
I was just browsing through the forum and not found anything of note so just clicked on the Marriage & Death entry. I don't usually look at such entries that contain no detail, without a name - but I was bored !!
Thanks Shepway for the in depth research of Joseph Hill, who I found in my family tree. My main interest is the Marfell family but always record the siblings and parents of spouses, so will share the link in case it is of use.
As shown on the census data Joseph Hill had a daughter Elizabeth Amy Hill 1835 who married Charles Henry Price 1841 at Dymock 28 Apr 1868. They had 2 children Harry 1869 and Frederick Charles Price 1873. Frederick married Sarah Ann Marfell 1875/1928 at Weston Under Penyard 11 Oct 1904. They had 4 children incl Theodora Margaret 3 Nov 1908/4 Mar 1976 NZ. She married Frank Jones born abt 1908 on 3 Mar 1945 Warri, Nigeria and emigrated to New Zealand in 1959 following Frank's death. The children of this marriage are still living, so no published detail, but one of them became a Professor and I exchanged emails with him a few years ago.

Hi Jim, good to see you. Ref your post and not seeing anything relevant to your researches, I wonder did you see this fairly recent thread entitled "1876 - late registration of illegitimate birth (RHODES)".
http://www.forest-of-dean.net/fodmembers/index.php?mode=thread&id=46925
On my first post in this thread I refer to your input on an old thread entitled "Elijah & Jane Herbert - 1851 Census", which seems to link into the recent Rhodes thread, I wonder can you perhaps add anything to this thread, please ?
Thanks, Jeff.

Hi Jeff
Nothing to add to the thread you mentioned I'm afraid.
