Hi I am researching Edward and Emily ( Emma )they married at whitchurch 1890 and had a daughter, Sarah Matilda abt 1893, she is shown in the 1891 census and 1901 census, her father died between 1901 and 1911, but can't find Sarah or Emma, ( emily) in the 1911 census, any one have the records of Ross or Monmouth workhouse, please any info

Hi anyone know when the monmouth workhouse closed and what happened to any inmates that were still in there on closure? ??

One of that thread's search engine hits says "After 1930, the former workhouse was renamed the Ty'Bryn Public Assistance Institution, then from 1940s became Monmouth County Infirmary."

Thanks Mike,

I received some correspondence from a distant relative explaining that Sarah was placed in the monmouth workhouse because she was having regular epileptic fits, and that she actually had a sister Elsie born 1906,and that their mother Emma actually married again in the March of 1911 to James Reece,the 1911 census have the couple living with Elsie davis as the daughter.
That's why I love this website because I actually Have a photo of James's father and brother with a relative of mine a jarrett all in their army uniform of the 1st world war,
