Will of John Foord of Chepstow 1773.

In the name of God Amen I John Foord of the Town of Chepstow in the County of Monmouth being in perfect health and sound mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God and knowing how transitory this life is I think it fit to dispose of my worldly estate in manner and form following. First I recommend my soul to Almighty God that gave it and my body to decent burial at the discretion of my wife. Item I give and bequeath to my nephew John Foord senior of Callicott in the County of Monmouth one pound one shilling. Item I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Elizabeth Barnfield one pound one shilling. Item I give and bequeath to my son in law William Gwinel? one pound one shilling. Item I give and bequeath to my trusty friend Mr Joseph Glover five pounds five shillings to buy him a gold ring in remembrance of me. Item I give and bequeath to Ann Holms ten pounds. Item I give and bequeath Elizabeth Philadelphia Gardiner twenty pounds. The above mentioned legacies to be paid by my executrix hereafter named within one year after my decease. Item I give and bequeath to my dear and well beloved wife Elizabeth Foord all my goods chattels lands tenements moneys bonds mortgages securities for money and whatever else I die possessed of I do freely give and bequeath to the afore named Elizabeth Foord who I nominate constitute and appoint to be my whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament. And I do likewise declare this to be my last will and testament revoking all others formerly made. As witness my hand and seal this eighteenth day of December and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy and in the eleventh year of the reign of his Majesty King George the Third.
