John Ballinger 1735-1798 in Norton. Possible parents (General)

Hi All.

I'm researching the Ballinger line of my family (they used to own the Ferrie Inn, the Symonds Yat Hotel and the Yew Tree Inn in Symonds Yat/Whitchurch area).

I've reached a stumbling block with John Ballinger b 1735 in Norton. He married Elizabeth Bessex in 1768 under licence (assuming because she was 17!!!).

I think his fathers name was William and mothers name, was Mary. I also think he had an Aunt called Mary and she married a William Shaw (John and his cousin were baptised on the same day I believe).

Does anyone know if the marriage licence is available? I've searched everywhere online and can't find anything, or does anyone know anything about John's parents/grandparents??.

Thanks

Mark
