More than 300,000 parish records on the Web site

by admin ⌂, Forest of Dean, Friday, October 05, 2007, 04:13 (6251 days ago) @ admin

The latest batch of parish records that were put on the Web site
today took the total over 300,000 individual records.

Baptisms: 163,536
Burials: 106,869
Marriages: 36,018

Total: 306,423

These figures do not take in to account records which have been
transcribed and are not on the Web site for privacy reasons. I have
not kept an up to date number of of off-line records but it would be
in the vicinity of 20,000.

Considering the short time the project has been going. I am sure you
will all agree this has been a tremendous effort by all involved.

Special thanks to Graham Davidson who got the project started and
does all the co-ordinating on his own. Without Graham there would not
have been a parish records project for the Forest of Dean and
thousands of people would not have benefited from the records being
freely available on the site.
