I think it was my great, great grandmother, Eliza Agnes Rook (nee Prosser) who was the cook there but I'm not sure whether it was her, her daughter or her mother. (Her mother was also Elizabeth and Mrs. Rook as she married my great-great grandfather's brother when she was a widow). Though I know that one of the definitely worked in the Speech House as the cook they are of an earlier generation, my great-great grandmother being born in the 1830s, sadly the newspaper article, which I found again a while ago, related to another relative's service as a housekeeper in the Mannesman Tube Company in Swansea.

My father tells me that his grandmother, Ethel Baker (nee Brobyn) was a cook at Speech House and it was whilst working there she met her husband Frank who was working as a fish salesman. Ethel was born in 1870.
My family name is Brain, my father Ronald James, son of Edward Jesse & Gladys Ellen (nee Baker). Edward Jesse was the son of Simeon and Simeon the son of Jesse (killed at Foxesbridge mine 1897)etc, etc. Any connection?

Somewhere in my house I have a clipping from a newspaper stating that one of my relatives was retiring from being the cook at the Speech House, a job she appears to have had for many years. I will find it to state exactly what it said. Does anyone else have any links with Speech House staff? From what I remember of the article she was a very well esteemed person. I will find the date but I can remember in the same clipping, on the other side of the page from it there is also an interesting item about Suffragettes.
