WOORE/HOAR - Goodrich (reply)

I have Thomas Jellamy in my tree. His first wife was Sarah Woore and they were married on 23.7.1806. They had three children - Thomas (17.4.1807), Margaret (9.1.1808) and Sarah (9.1.1808). Margaret and Sarah died on 13.1.1808, Sarah Woore on 26.1.1808 and Thomas on 9.4.1809.

Thomas then remarried Ann Lane on 5.5.1812 and they had a daughter, Ann (14.11.1814). They are my direct line via her marriage to John Merry.

Do you have any more information regarding the Jellamy connection?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Robert WOORE transported to Tasmania (reply)

I have Robert Woore's very faint conduct record from Tasmanian Archives which states he was tried at Hereford QS 27-6-1836 and his native place stated as "Goodridge" which I assume was Goodrich. He stated he was married with 2 children and that his "wife died since I was transported"

Robert WOORE transported to Tasmania (reply)

This may not be directly connected to your query but I noticed the Woore name and thought it might be worth posting this information.
Two of my ancestors Thomas Daniel and William Daniel both of Whitchurch were tried with stealing on the 27-6-1836 at Hereford Quarter Sessions along with co-accused ROBERT WOORE. William Daniel was found not guilty and discharged. Thomas Daniel and ROBERT WOORE were transported to Tasmania aboard the convict ship Blenheim arr.16-7-1837.

WOORE/HOAR - Goodrich (reply)

I wondered about a Will for James and/or possible for Ann who died in 1876.

On 1841 census James and Ann were at Yew Tree Cottage which is mentioned in an archive in the Hereford Records Office (ref L24/72 1809 - 1843) which contains 'attested copies of deeds for properties in Goodrich including Yew Tree Cottage belonging to Fletcher and Hill families and acquired by Sir Samuel Rush Meyrick'
Not sure what the significance of that is! Yew Tree Cottage, Goodrich ( if it is the same one) seems now to be the home of a photographer called Philippe Brevet.

On the IGI an LDS member has attached the surname 'Howells' to Ann's name for all of the following baptisms for children of James and Ann (all baptised at Goodrich)

Mary bapt 16/7/1809
Oliver bapt 2/7/1815 (extra notes are added to entry by LDS member re marriage and burial for Oliver)
Do these two come from James's marriage to Anne Howells in 1807?

Then there is a long gap - so the following seem to be the children of the younger Ann who is on the 1841 and 1851 census with James

Elizabeth bapt 7/6/1835 residence Copped Wood
Mary Anne bapt 28/1/1839 residence Huntisham Baptism at Goodrich
Eliza bapt 15/1/1843 residence Copped Wood

This is in addition to the 3 Howells baptisms for Henry 1828, Anne 1829 and Thomas 1832.

Interesting but not sure where to go from here! I would like to find the burial of James's first wife Ann Davies to be more certain that the James who married Ann Howells is the same one and therefore the one who is connected in some way to Martha.

WOORE/HOAR - Goodrich

Original thread

--------

Could these be the marriages of Martha's two surviving sisters Sarah and Ann both on the same day at Goodrich and possibly a double wedding -

23 July 1806 Goodrich
Sarah Woore to Thomas Jellamy
Anne Woore to Thomas Morgan

I have so far found the following baptisms

Thomas Morgan and Ann residence Copped Wood , Goodrich
Mary bapt 17/3/1815 Goodrich
Ann bapt 20/5/1821 ''

Thomas and Ann Morgan appear on the 1841 and 1851 census at Goodrich - I haven't checked the 1861 census.

Thomas Jellamy and Sarah (source IGI)
Sarah bapt 9/1/1808 Goodrich
Margaret bapt 9/1/1808 ''

Sarah appears to have died 1808 - 1812 as there is a second marriage for Thomas Jellamy widower to Ann Lane on 5/5/1812 at Goodrich.
