Forgot to say that I have looked at all the combinations of James and Elzabeth Vaughan, including different spelling, and that is the only one that seemed close.

Hi Bill
Not sure if this is them but in the 1841 Wales census there is a James and Elizabeth living in Llangynider Brecon with the Griffiths family.

James VAUGHAN 1770 Tidenham (reply)

Hi Dave,

I also have James as married to Elizabeth Beal. We are dealing with the same person. The question is, who were his parents.

I haven't been able to find a satisfactory way of linking James to either Nancy & George, or Robert & Elizabeth. I decided on Robert & Elizabeth as parents due to James' birth (1851Census) and baptism (LDS C057771) in Tidenham. Unfortunately there is far more information on George & Nancy on this site than Robert & Elizabeth! But until we manage to rule out one or the other...

James VAUGHAN 1770 Tidenham (reply)

Tidenham as place of birth is based on this 1851 census return. Unfortunately I haven't yet found him family on the 1841 census.

It is a long shot - but Robert Vaughan b 1749 Woolaston and Elizabeth (Hoskins) had a son James baptised in Tidenham 25th March 1770, whereas Nancy & George's son James was baptised 31 Dec 1771 in Newent. What do you think? Have you got a clear connection between James and George & Nancy?
