Charles William Benjamin FREEMAN 1913-1913 Hope Mansell (reply)

This all seems to fit with a child born May / June and dying August/Sept 1913, aged 4 months.

The baptism on 29th Sept could be 29th August, likewise the burial on the 2nd Sept could be 29th Sept - many possibilities - we could speculate that child was ill and baptised in haste.... The transcriptions may be accurate and an error was made in the original registers :-(

The BMD's are as you might expect, not unusual for a September event to appear in the October register. The transcription says 4 not 4 Years ( or 4 months !)

Charles William Benjamin Freeman (reply)

Hi

Still doesn't quite add up though, even if the child was 4 months old not 4 years... the death should be registered in Sep q 1913 if buried on 2/9.. but death is registered in dec q...
wonder if burial date on transcript wrong and should be 29th...
as Stephen is asking, he needs a check of original image.. :)

Charles William Benjamin Freeman (reply)

According to FreeBMD:
Edmund Freeman married Gertrude Annie Jones in Sept quarter of 1898 (Ref Glos 6a 536)
The birth record for Charles WB Freeman you found in the June quarter of 1913 shows the mother as Jones which ties in.
Maybe the baby was 4 months old and was baptised shortly before he died in September.
I have found records where a child was baptised aged 2 and I'm sure that this is far from being unusual.

Charles William Benjamin FREEMAN 1913 (reply)

I have been looking through the recent Hope Mansel parish records hoping to find the baptism of a relative whom I had heard had died around 1 year of age. I have managed to find him but there seems to be a discrepancy in his baptism and burial records so I am hoping someone can help. All I knew was of the name Benjamin being born to Edmund and Gertrude Freeman in hope Mansell. On 29 sept 1913 there is a baptism for William Charles Benjamin Freeman to those parents.....there is also a burial record for the same residency address but for Charles William Benjamin Freeman age 4 burial 2 sept 1913........I am sure this is the same person as the residency baptism and burial is the same...but the name is slightly different and the age is wrong. Plus he is baptised after he is buried! Free BMD has a Charles W B Freeman born 1913 Ross died 1913 Ross......does anyone have access to the parish records to check these entries for me? Thank you
