As well as possibly a few suicides and the non-conformists, unconsecrated ground might also include Paupers Graves.

There was no Anglican Churchyard at Coleford. Prior to this town cemetery being opened in the 1860's most Coleford area burials would have been at Newland.

Anglicans and non-confirmists seem to have been buried in different sections of the cemetery.

Could well be correct. On this page:

is this:
"To be buried "under Burial Laws Amendment Act 1880" means that the person buried was a non-conformist; the burial service was performed by a Non-Conformist minister, but in a Church of England church as the burial was going to take place in the churchyard (consecrated ground). Many non-conformist church members had to be buried in unconsecrated ground, as their religion was not recognised as such by the established church."

Don't wish to upset you but maybe he committed suicide? It was one reason for being buried in such a place.

there seems to be a trend developing here - looking through the Coleford burials there are too many to be have been taking their own lives.

my "theory" is that these are non-conformists being buried, there is also a pattern with Rev/minister involved.

Memoranda on the parish record for the burial of Wood Jenkins May 14 1927 includes the comment Unconsecrated.

Does this mean Wood is not buried in Coleford cemetrey?

If so does anyone know why Wood should have been buried in unconsecrated ground?
