I have rechecked the FoD Mine accident database CD, and I cannot see this accident listed.

I am now looking for details on the death of their father - Nathaniel Hawkins (b18/08/1828), as we now have a death cert for 07/03/1861 "accidentally killed in a coal pit". There is mention of an inquest which looks like 9th March 1861, but it may not be a 9. Wouldn't this be a little early after the accident ?.

Locating the inquest details would be of great interest. I can't see anything in the FOD inquest records. It there any other records place I can do a search (electronically) on the matter.

now i am on two trails -

what happend to Rhoda Hawkins after her husband
was killed in 1861 ?. I know the daughter (Mary Ann) married Daniel Swan and they moved to Invercargill, New Zealand, via Melbourne Australia

Where did Daniel Swan ( b about 1855) come from - possibly ireland ??
