Thomas Hughes and Jane Hughes - My suggestions (reply)

Refer to your pervious posting:
http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?mode=thread&id=12951

This is in response to your posting here and also to the email you sent me requesting help.

There are a couple of reasons why you are not making much head way with your query on this forum. Firstly the information you are seeking is for people which were living out the area of our scope. Like the name of this Web site indicates, we specialise in the area of the Forest of Dean.

The other reason is that you have researched this family back to the 1700s and once you have reached this point it all gets a lot harder to get further back due to the fact that there is no census data available to refer to and also parish records in general had less information recorded on them and it is often difficult to know if a particular entry is for the person you are seeking.

Like I have mentioned above I suggest you post your query on a Mailing list or forum that covers the area of Llantilio. By doing so you you will have a far better chance of someone helping you as the people involved often have access to local records which we do not have.

Additional to the mailing list I mentioned above there is also the Rootsweb Mailing list:

Moynes Court had its origins as the medieval castle
to the south west; but the present house had a major rebuilding by the
Bishop of Llandaff in 1609-10 and was occupied as their main seat
after leaving Mathern Palace. The Bishop moved to Cardiff in 1763
and Moynes Court was sold by the Diocese in 1889.

Thomas HUGHES - Llantilio (reply)

Does Thomas have any connections with the Forest of Dean? If so please let us know what the connection is.

As Llantilio is well into Monmouthshire I suggest you post your query on the Mailing list for that area.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/monfh/

A little tip - Many people find reading messages in all upper case (Capital) letters laborious and as a result they skip the message and quickly move on to the next one.

You will find our Posting Guidelines useful.
