Thanks for your message. I live in Croydon, not very close to the Forest unfortunately. I only have distant memories of my Grandfather as we did not visit often and I was less then 10 when he died. I was only aware of one relative left in the Forest of Dean so it is really good to hear from you. Which of Arthur's siblings are you related to? I would love to share any information and particularly photographs. My Father was Arthur's youngest son Clifford. I have a lot of family history information going back as early as 1300's for an earlier ancestor but very little about the Parrs because the records at Plymouth are far from complete.

Thanks Caroline. Yes, it is of interest. I hadn't really got that far with it so it will save me time. The relative I am doing this for is the grandson of Hubert (Bertie), Florence's brother, and son of his son, Charlie (1918). When I showed him some of the correspondence from the Forum he didn't think any of them were related but when I looked into it more closely I found they were so he will have a surprise when I show it to him!

George (James) Frowen died 2nd Nov 1909 workhouse infirmary Westbury on Severn. Cause of death TB.
1911 census makes quite interesting reading Florence Elizabeth head of household and widow plus 5 children and Arthur Mountfort Parr boarder, Littledean. She married my Grandfather, Arthur Mountfort Parr March 22nd 1913. There were subsequently 5 more children by her second marriage of which my father was the third son. Second son had Murrell included in his name, ie Hampden Charles Murrell Parr!
1901 census also gives a Florance Frowen from Coleford as a domestic servant living at Clapham Road London. Not sure if it is the same Florence or not but Arthur Mountfort was working in London and also living near Clapham Common. May be just coincidence but I know in 1904 he was packed off to Canada by his family to get him out of the way for some reason.
Florence seems to have used the name Elizabeth at least during her second marriage.
Don't know if any of this is of interest.

Please can anyone help. I am doing a bit of research on the Murrells as we have a living Murrell in our family and I need to know something about Florence Elizabeth.
Florence Elizabeth (1879) was the daughter of Tom Murrell (1859) and Charlotte Hobby. It is stated that when she married Arthur Mountfort Parr, her name was Frowen. However, I have been unable to link her to a Frowen marriage although I think I have searched appropriate records. Maybe I have missed something. Does anyone know which Frowen she was married to??

Arthur Mountfort PARR born Wandsworth London 26th March 1883.
1905-1907 my grandfather was studying at Selwyn College Cambridge, he was sent down towards the end of his second year probably for skipping out of college once too often!
Married (Florence) Elizabeth FROWEN formerly MURRELL 22nd March 1913 Westbury on Severn Register Office.
His marriage certificate states he was a collier.
The birth certs of two of his children in 1915 and 1918 state he was a colliery roadman. Address Causeway, East Dean.
The birth cert of his youngest daughter in 1925 states he is now a school teacher. Address Church Road, East Dean.
October 1925 he returned to Cambridge to complete his degree.
1928-1930 Curate of St John's Cinderford
1930-1947 Curate/vicar of St James Bream.
Florence Elizabeth MURRELL born Calamoor Littledean 27th Oct 1880 parents Tom Murrell coal miner and mother Charlotte formerly Hobby.
The link with the Forest of Dean seems originally to come from my Grandmother. I have recently started to try and trace my father's family. Information about my grandparents especially before 1928 would be most welcome. Many thanks.
