For the first children , the mother is given as "Ann" rather than Mary - I wonder if it is the same "Mary Ann" or two different women. In which case Eliza's mother may be "Ann" and we have been looking for the wrong person :-(

Thanks yet again for your help. There seems to be no entry in the 1841 census for William POWELL and his wife Mary Ann and their first child (Eliza) is old enough to be on there with them

Hi Apologies for having mixed up the ages of Ann and Mary I got too excited, i suppose at thinking I`d actually found her on the 1841 census. I havent found her and her husband William in the 1841 despite lots of help from Slowhands They had a daughter Eliza born 1840. In 1851 they were living at Berry Hill with other children James,Alfred and Fanny but Eliza was living with her gran or possibly great-gran
