Piccadily in Woolaston (reply)

On the 1881 census, your Robert family living at Piccadilly are listed next door to Ashwell Grange.

Piccadilly is also listed on the 1891 and 1901 census.

The Enumerator's remarks on the 1901 census are precise - this is part of 'William Morgan's" notes.

All that part of the Parish of Woollaston lying to the South West of the above Boundary Line which will include all houses in Back Civil Parish of Woollaston (Part of) Lane, Woodside Farm, Land Tumps, Woollaston Wood and Woodside, The Slade, Whitewalls, Parkhill, Bowlash, ASHWELL GRANGE, High Ecclesiastical Parish of Woolaston etc etc

The addresses/families listed on the 1901 census (which include Piccadilly are - in order of being written

Woodside, Woodside Farm, Land Tumps, Common Wood, Norman Heads, Woodside, Slade, Whitewalls, Bowlash, Parkhill, Bowlash -again... Parkhill - again .... Piccadilly - Parkhill - again and then High Woolaston

Piccadily in Woolaston

According to the 1881 census my grandfather Michael Roberts lived at Piccadilly in Woolaston. Last year I visited the local churches in the Woolaston/Tidenham districts to look at headstones etc. During my visit I asked a couple of local people if they had ever heard of a Piccadilly in the area but no-one seemed to have come across it. As my grandfather was a farm worker I wondered if there may have been a farm known by this name. Can anyone throw any light on this -Thanks
