according to this website altho' Barnwood House had it's own Chapel it didn't have a cemetery.

If by chance you don't know the history of the Hospital, this site may help. I cannot find any references to burials in the text. Perhaps its worth contacting the modern Barnwood Trust, or Glos County Council, altho previous posters experiences suggest records are not easily accessible if at all(see below).

However I suspect burials of residents within the Hospital would have been deemed the responsibility of the next-of-kin wherever possible, or a local burial at minimal cost/effort to the Council particularly in the difficult days of 1940.

Pardon my ignorance, but please clarify for me the link between the deceased and the Captain's effects, thanks ?.

I would be very surprised if any burials were carried out at Barnwood ( private) Hospital. The family presumable arranged for a burial , perhaps in a family plot at a "favoured" Church, or at the Municipal graveyard in Gloucester.

The "effects" are those of the deceased, probate granted to the relative...

I'm NO expert but isn't this a case for purchasing a Death Certificate ?

They had three children & lived in Tidenham, near Chepstow until after 1901.

The pulpit, and the altar table and its ornaments were given by the Rev. Robert Vaughan Hughes M.A. of Wyelands, at a total cost of £150. The font, presented by the same family, cost £40, and the lych gate was also given by the Rev. R. Vaughan Hughes.

There are three modern stained windows, one of which is a memorial to Mary Anne Mainwaring, wife of the Rev. R. V. Rughes, d. 14 Jan. 1865; and some fragments of old stained glass; the organ was given by.C. F. Abdy Williams esq.; the church was restored in 1881-4, and again in 1890, at a total cost of about £3,500: there are 270 sittings.
