Her grandparents, Charles Nelmes and Mary Ann (Drew) Nelmes, lived in the same household, Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. Charles was born in Shapridge, emigrated about 1870. Mary Ann Drew was from Herefordshire. I think Mary Ann may also have been nicknamed "Polly".

I have since discovered that my grandfather's sister Mary Jane Allaway (who was born in 1877 in Ruardean) married Alfred Nelmes in 1910 (registered in Ross).

Does anyone know if this could be the Polly who my mother remembered? Does anyone know or remember this family?
