Elizabeth PIMLEY 1855 Birmingham (reply)

Hi slowhands

What a fantastic line-up of Pimleys! Thank you so much for all the trouble you have gone to.
Some of the data I already had, but I was never quite sure whether I had really got hold of "my" Pimleys. With your help I now have confirmation of the family links.
On the 1861 census, I found no mention of a Charles Pimley, though he appears on his father's death certificate. It was therefore interesting to see from your extract taken from the 1871 census that Charles was in fact the last-born child and the long-awaited son.

My thanks again to you and the forum.

Kind regards

Hi Helen,

Thank you so much for replying so quickly.
The information about the second marriage to Mary is of great interest to me, as the wedding must have taken place very shortly after the death of Elizabeth. The fact that Thomas married the elder sister seems perhaps to indicate that he was intent on doing his best for the sake of his children.

Thanks again for your help.

All the best.

Hello,

I have just read your posting on the marriage of Thomas Gwilliam and Elizabeth Pimley in 1875 and have seen that my great-grandmother Martha Pimley was one of the witnesses at the wedding. I know of other members of the Gwilliam Family in Australia. Which side of the family are you related to?

I am trying to trace the Pimley side of the family who also seem to come from a long tradition of licensed victuallers. Do you by any chance have any interesting details that you would be willing to share with me?

Kind regards,

Gwilliams, Berry Hill RFC and coal mining in 1901

I have just started to research my family history starting on my father's side. I am trying to find out some information about Thomas Gwilliam of The Globe Inn, Berry Hill. According to the 1901 Census he was a colliery owner. I am trying to find out which colliery he owned and also some information about Berry Hill RFC which he apparently set up and was run from The Globe. If anyone has any resources that I couls use or any links to sites with photographs I would be very grateful. It is a minefield of information and trying to work out facts and put dates together is very difficult when you're new at this!

Many thanks,
