St Margaret's Church, Corse (reply)

Search Parish Records
We have the burial parish records up to 1950 for Corse on our website but none with the surname of Yeates or variant spellings of the surname.

St Margaret's Church, Corse
The proximity of the church to the moated manor house called Corse Court suggests that the church may owe its foundation to the occupants of this house. Although the font in the 12 th century, no part of the fabric has been identified as earlier than the 14 th century. The earliest mention of the church is of 1290, when the prior of the Deerhurst was the patron of Corse Church. His patronage reflects the fact that Corse had been part of the large area served by Deerhurst priory church...

Forest of Dean Parish Map
Type in Corse England to Corse Lawn England in the Directions & Distance boxes and it will show you the two locations with the road distace between them being 3.6 miles.

Grave Stone Inscription in Corse (Lawn) (reply)

I don't remember seeing a church at Corse , Google maps don't show one
The most likely (assuming CofE) are Eldersfield , Chacely or Hartpury with Bushley and Pendock as more distant possibilities

Grave Stone Inscription in Corse (Lawn)

I am trying to find burial information for a George Yeates my Great x2 Grandfather born Guiting Power 1855 and moved to Corse (Lawn) about 1902ish.
Just wondererd if anyone from this area could look up for me a gravestone with info of date of death etc. Also because I am not from Gloucs I would like to know if Corse and Corse Lawn are different places if so then that may explain why I have not been able to find a burial under Corse.
I am coming down later in the summer to see for myself but just wondered if anyone out there could help now.
thanks, Dave Y.
Whoops! sorry to mention, his death should be around 1930ish.
