As stated earlier Elizabeth Ann Powell married Oliver Gwilliam. Elizabeth Ann is the daughter of Fanny Powell. Here is the baptism:

Hi Looking at the 1911 census again I see that Fanny was recorded as being born in Cinderford which wasn`t the case with the one I`m looking for. She was born at Berry Hill

I haven`t got Elizabeth`s birth certificate but there is a parish record showing the marriage of Elizabeth to an Oliver GWILLIAM and Fanny POWELL`s name is entered in the "father" place.
My POWELLs came from around Coleford if you think there is a connection, I have lots of info about them

No worries about the 1911. I'm sure we answered the same thread earlier for Rachel about the Powell family in Kingston, Herefordshire. There was mention of one of my direct ancestors marrying into Powell family. I know its a common name,
but I always think If I help someone I'm bound to be helped myself at some point so its all cool. I wouldn't do it everyday (pay that is) but I did it of my own free will...

I've looked at the 1871 census showing Fanny Powell, as daughter to the head of household. The last entry is for Elizabeth Powell Grand daughter. Is Elizabeth 100% Fanny's daughter. Could she be the daughter of another sibling of Fanny. Have you found her baptism showing just Fanny as mother, or do you have the birth certificate.

Reading your message again I see that the entry you sent showed that Fanny was Samuel`s wife and later on you said that you have to pay to see relationships.If this means that you paid in order to get the info for me Iam doubly grateful

Then maybe the 1911 census is correct for you then? I did find that marriage on the Free BMD, but couldn't be sure without any documental evidence (copy to show address, ages, fathers etc)

Thanks for your messagewith the info. Since writing mine I`ve found two records . The marriage of Fanny POWELL to Samuel POWELL in 1871(WEstbury) and the 1881census entry for Samuel and Fanny`s family at White Street Westbury East Dean.

I've just looked at the 1911 census to find the Fanny Powell you speak of being buried in Cinderford. I would say she's not yours. The entry is as follows:

Fred Powell Son 30 Single Coal Miner Hewer Born Cinderford Gloucestershire

Leslie Powell GD Son 12 no other details are indexed

with the 1911 census index it doesn't show marital status until you pay so see the transcript. There are 8 Fanny Powell's who have a connection to Gloucestershire. None are close to a 1846 birth date. Is it possible she did marry or move away? Sorry its making more questions than answers, but I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of it by process of elimination.

Fanny POWELL was the daughter of William and Mary Ann POWELL living at Berry Hill. She was baptised at Christchurch in 1846.She had a daughter Elizabeth in 1868. They were both living with William and Mary Ann at least until 1871(census).In 1881 Elizabeth was living with her aunt Eliza TEAGUE but Fanny was not with them.
I haven`t been able to find a marriage for Fanny but did find a burial entry for a Fanny POWELL aged 82 in 1931(so the age is right). There was an address given in the parish records 82 Church Street Cinderford St John`s.Does anyone know if a burial certificate dated 1931 gives any clue to identify if she`s the one I`m looking for?
