Monmouth along the lower part of the scenic Wye Valley in Monmouthshire,
Wales, and Gloucestershire, England. The line opened in 1876. It closed for
passenger traffic in 1959 and for goods traffic in 1964, but part was still used
for quarry traffic until 1992.

Plans are being drawn up to re-open the pathway

We are working towards a new round of public consultation with the local
communities and planning authorities and working up a new planning application
for the route between Brockwier, Tintern and Chepstow. This includes two
alternative designs for a new bridge over the River Wye at Tintern which
is a Sustrans Connect2 scheme.
Wye Valley AONB Sustainable Development Fund is assisting with funding
the cost of developing the planning and consultation material.
